Dedicated hosting is mostly for more advanced users with site's that need alot of resources, as opposed to shared hosting which is 100% managed and users don't have to deal with the servers at all. Hope that helps a bit.
I like that answer very much. Concise and to the point. But I'm interested how do you know when's the time for a web site to go on dedicated server? How many visitors, how much bandwidth?
