I have a web hosting business established about 6 years that I may wish to sell in a few months time. I am just putting feelers out. We are based in London, United Kingdom. I have another business - Business Sale Report - that I have run for about 8 years that I now want to concentrate on (we have not advertised the hosting business for sale yet).

I have about 750 customers, mostly businesses. About 320 have web hosting accounts; these are all paid annually in advance. Most hosting accounts are £99 + vat. Some are paying £149. Some are paying around £50 as a legacy from a small hosting company we bought a couple of years ago.

The balance of customers are domain name only or domain name with POP or forwarding accounts. We mark up UK domains c. 8 times (i.e. cost £2.50 per annum, we sell @ £19.95). We own our own Cobalt Raq 4i server, which holds about 25% of the hosting accounts. This is at London TeleHouse. The rest are run on a managed hosting service and can be easily relocated. The managed service is great as any tech glitches are taken care of by the company. We only pay somewhere around £1000 yearly for this.

Bottom line: the turnover (revenue) is around £50,000, growing 5% yearly. The asking price is £99,000, absolute minimum.

As well as the client base, trade names and Raq server, also includes advertising contracts in place till end of 2004 that deliver about 2 domain or hosting leads a day. It's a solid little business with good quality, loyal clients. Offers at or above this amount will be seriously considered.
