In the hosting industry, making sure that your users are not abusing your services and violating your TOS is critical. By not proactively monitoring your clients, you can easily get yourself in trouble with your datacenter. When there is a problem with a spammer, especially phishing ones, datacenters take that seriously and often times will shut your server down without asking any other questions, thus making you and all your customers suffer. Anyone who uses LayeredTech knows this . So, I'm giving a few steps and ideas to stop abusers before you get shut off!

- Take a proactive abuse approach. Scan your servers regularly. I use WHM Xtra (http://www.whmxtra.com) to scan for server violations like MP3s, and vBulletins.
- Verify all vBulletin installations you find with Jelsoft. E-mail support[at]vbulletin.com with the license number and installation URL, and Steve and Martin are happy to verify them.
- Check your exim logs every so often and investigate people sending out tons of e-mail
- Register your IP ranges with http://www.spamcop.net by e-mailing deputies[at]admin.spamcop.net with attention to Ellen. This way SpamCop reports will goto you and your provider, so you can take care of them and let them know before getting a notice.
- If you find a violation and take care of it yourself, notify your provider....They'll note it down and wont send a notice, avoiding you any trouble

Feel free to offer any other suggestions
