At one time I thought about doing that...then I realized I had too many ideas, that I'd never follow through on all of them, and that I didn't want to spend the money for the domains only to "discard" them after a year. I figured out which ideas I honestly thought I would follow through on, and went with those.
When I've wanted a business website and haven't already owned the domain, I make up several alternatives. Then I check to see which ones are actually available. I found one where my first choice was being held by a speculator. I filled out their offer form with a fifty-dollar offer, and was given the automated message that my offer was too low. Their script "suggested" a minimum offer of around $1,500. I checked in the Wayback machine, and the domain had been sitting in this semi-fallow state for four years.
I just went with one of my alternatives...and haven't lost a night of sleep. (Part of me fully expects that domain to come available in a few years. I'll debate snapping it up at that point.)
