I wouldn't recommend Godaddy either. You might need a provider who will provide you with enough stability for a phone system such as asterix.
Granted, you can do anything with a VPS, however many providers put limits on what you can do, so its better if you look around for more options.
I would recommend a Xen solution, as for harder caps and guaranteed % of your resources.
