And like with any other business, if you are the only one with access to the machines, that means NO vacations! I'd strongly advise going through a hosting provider that provides Managed Hardware replacements, and even for that matter, when starting out, managed software solutions.
I know in another thread you mentioned that you wanted to bring in a partner to help get things going, but there's more to the hosting business than setting up a computer and installing Apache.

I know for a fact you can get bandwidth from Time Warner or AT & T in your residence and do what you want I have done it. I did however move it to a building more suited for it but it can be done and is allowed by the bigboys. Yes you will have to purchase the bandwidth which for me at that time was $800 a month for a 3 mb pipe However in this day and age you can get 15 mb up and down relatively cheap with the big boys blessing. However you probably can't get enough bandwidth to sufficiently serve a large customer base.
Just my 2 cents.
