We use Maxminds service and it is very helpful. While I would not rely solely on the service, it does alert you to possible problems so you can look more closely at these orders.
MaxMind is ONE good tool to use for fraud prevention. It shouldn't be the only tool used though.

You can use MaxMind for sure but replying solely on it isnt good enough. Its good for companies who process a large amount of orders or orders worth large sum of money as few cents out of it would protect you upto a limit.
Though, when I feel some order is fraudlent, I do call myself after the maxmind's telephone verification...
I like Maxmind. If there is a problem it normally alerts us with the details. I can say it has helped us when frauds to come in. And in this business it is not IF it is Whem
I like Maxmind. If there is a problem it normally alerts us with the details. I can say it has helped us when frauds to come in. And in this business it is not IF it is When. I think most companies can agree that any help in detecting fraud is good. It gives you a point scale to base some information on. If a user puts a Colorado address but the IP is in New York it throughs up a flag so that you can look into it and make a healthy choice.
