I am filing a tax extension myself due to a number of stocks I sold, needing more time to calculate the profits and losses. Make sure to send a little money in even it is $5.00 with the tax extesnion to show the IRS you mean business! Even if you do not owe any money, they will go ahead and reimburse you for whatever you decide to send in with the tax extension so it works out well!

I would think that you have to have a closer look at taxes if you owe and want an extention. If you send them one dollar or five dollars and owe over a grand it is kind of a slap in their face and do not take it to lightly. Taxes do suck but you gotta pay them and if you get audited make sure you have all your ducks lined up so when they come you can prove it to them. If not be prepared to be harrased for a while. Our accountant this year was terrible and we will never use them again, even tho they have been doing this for over 30 years I still don't understand how they came about their findings The good thing about them is if anything ever happens they are in charge and speak directly to the IRS and I am out of the picture "Free of Charge"
