Hi,

You can start by using the free version of autopilot. You can have up to 10 clients and I think they could give you some money to upgrade to the paid version.

Yes you have to have a license, it's $15.95 from www.whmcs.com BUT you can get it for $12.95 (I believe) at www.licensepal.com .. Which they also have cheapier clientexec licenses. Yes you can pay monthly at both of those websites. But I would suggest paying the extra $3 a month because if you order from a reseller they will not give you support. Also if you order from WHMCS directly their giving out free enom accounts.

I never really mess around with any of the free ones but there are decent prices ones if you look around a good bit. 12 bucks is not that much a month and it would be well worth it (pending that system works, which I have never used).

WHMCS is probably the most widely used billing/automated account system. And yes it does definitely does work!

Check out this thread and read more about it if you would like to:

Hi There,

If you want to have a professional image for your company, you should have a professional billing/support system. WHMCS is both in one. Setting up a temporary billing system to online then change later down the road will annoy your customers. Customers don't like change a whole lot.

If you're not making enough for the $15/month price tag on a billing and support tool, then I'd suggest using just regular email for the 5 clients you do have. $15/month is a VERY low price for the amount of automation you get from the system. I understand keeping costs low when you're first starting out, but don't skimp on the basics. Get a $150 loan from a friend, bank or parents so that you have the software you need in order to start your business.

Yes, I deff.. couldn't of worded that any better. Please tell me your not starting a hosting company when you can't even afford $15-$16 monthly.

If this is for a hosting company, there are reseller hosting accounts out there that give you the billing solution for free (usually ClientExec or WHMCS). So, it would all revolve around choosing the right host, features and reputation wise.

As Idcdc mentioned there are hosts that offer these Billing systems as an "addon feature" ranging from $5 (varies depending on the host).
