I have saw these places where you can actually order a credit card processing system and process online as well. They charge a hefty fee from all that I have saw. Do you think that would help any or is offering Paypal for processing credit cards good enough? I sure hope so.

Offering additional type of payment is always a plus. Instead of Paypal, I would recommend a payment processing that accept international credit cards.

Moneybooker is also a popular payment method too.

2checkout.com is popular for international orders also.

Offering multiple methods of payment is nice, and PayPal is so recognized, you'll likely get a few paypal signups with subscriptions too.

When you say that they charge a hefty fee, what fee are you referring to? A setup fee? Or a processing fee?

I've got a place I use that charges reasonable rates for online sales, and if you want to process offline transactions on a machine, they'll send you a machine for free to do that too.

Other than paypal I would recommend you to go for 2Checkout.com. It will cost $49 one time setup fee.

Well the ones I had looked at charged both a processing fee per transaction plus a fee per month and an additional fee per transaction for Discover cards.. The setup was $148 on one and $40 on another. I am going to check out this that you recommend.

2Checkout now support PayPal allowing the customers to pay with the funds in their PayPal account, I think this is an additional benefit if you're going to use 2checkout.

is 2checkout done on your website or does it take you to their gateway. I have never used them, just curious.

I prefer 2checkout over paypal because:

1- Better fraud checking mechanism: you will receive a notification every few hours what orders have failed, and what orders have passed. No need for a fraud check department in your company, or at least you could downsize it.

2- You are able to pay via paypal at 2checkout.com as well: All your funds stay centralized in one place.

3- 2checkout accepts credit cards from more countries than paypal.

I am currently only offering paypal and google checkout to my customers. But I think that I am going to go ahead and offer a different cc processor just so that my customers have more options available for them to choose from.

There are so many people who prefer so many different things that I do believe that the more options available, the better it could be. I do also believe that you can throw a customer into overload, with having too many options.

I've never tried 2checkout. Thanks for the comparison between the two. I agree with others that more payment options can be beneficial, but don't feel the need to provide every payment option that is available to mankind!

Yes I agree. I think if you give people too many options they will shut off. Also if they don't totally know what they are doing then it could confuse them.

I would say use a maximum of 2 processors and then cheque if you wanted to!

Paypal is mostly used by the webmasters for shopping carts and orders, and sometimes it's Google Checkout. I also see payments like Alertpay, Moneybookers and Alipay.
