So i offer Paypal for my payment processing. But many people don't know that they can pay by credit card without having a paypal account. They dont know this because you have to click the paypal button then click the credit card link.

So, I want to add credit card gateway to my WHMCS. Seems like Alertpay is the way to go as their fees seem much less than 2checkout.

Any other direct credit card methods i should consider? Normal merchant accounts are just too expensive.

I have no problem with 2co fees.
They offer a product and that product cost money.
Never used alertpay and I see no reason to at this time.

How much less are their fees?

2checkout gets my vote. We have been using them and they are really good.

I actually added Google Checkout the other day. Going to try that for a while and see if it's popular. I will consider 2co next. I appreciate the input.

I have seen horror story's about 2CO and Authorize net... PayPal just loves to take money back out of your account just as a whim of a annoyed client who wants all their money back after purchasing a domain name. While some top notch credit card processors are a gateway too, the reverse is not true. You can get stuck with many extra-higher than normal charges to use some gateways like 2CO and Authorize Net as they use a 3th party gateway, and so does PayPal Pro.

If your looking for a simple solution to a gateway (our opinion) look to stand on your own using one of the big processors that are also a gateway. You'll save some money and you'll have better control over your bank account and any charge-back that will come your way.

Look at two of the biggest, in the US look at MeS and in Canada take a look at Beanstream. We use them both all the time.

Why not just use PayPal Website Payments Pro?

We work with CDG Commerce using Quantum Gateway. The support for both have been great for us and we're very happy with them.

Why would anyone want to use Paypal or Pro with all the back-door charge backs and vendor slamming with regard to disputes, and pay their high rates too! No way! 10 years ago, maybe. In todays market place and current international markets I'd stay as far from Paypal as I could. But hey, it's only your money and your bank account they will dip into at will. NBD!

Go speak to someone at your bank and ask them which merchant provider do they recommend. Banks usually have they own processors or have contracts with any 3rd parties. We use Chase Paymentech and are happy with them.
