49 House of Representatives websites defaced

49 House of Representatives websites were hacked after United States President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address Wednesday night, in a similar attacks back in August 2009 on 18 House. It is still unknown where the attack came from or what political motivations does the attacker have. The websites are managed by GovTrends, based in Alexandria, Virginia, that issued this statement on their website: “Shortly after the State of the Union address Wednesday night, a team of hackers infiltrated a number of House web sites by defacing them. The GovTrends team is working tirelessly with the House security team on this issue since the sites were first reported to be hacked Wednesday night. To ensure the safety of all clients that were hosted on the compromised server, GovTrends and HIR Security had taken offline all sites on that specific server to review and rehabilitate as necessary.”
