Government to consolidate over a thousand data centers

In an effort to reduce energy costs, over a thousand government data centers (the number of them tripled over the past decade) will merge into just few. An initial consolidation plan will be developed and announced by June 30. The plans will be finalized by the end of this year, December 31, with federal agencies implementing the the plan over the year to follow.
