Tieto’s $25M Finland data center

Tieto is building a new data center in Espoo, Finland. If the demand for space remains strong, the projected 3,280 square feet facility at the start will be expanded with an additional 1,140 square feet at a later time. Tieto’s investment into this project is approximately $25.5 million.

Cox Communications has announced a plan to build a new data center in Phoenix (company’s second DC in the area). With a construction cost of over $70 million, the facility is planned to start operating not before 2011.

4 people have been arrested due to a web hosting fraud, in which the conspirators gained computer racks and generators by making false representations. A total of 19 defendants were charged for conspiracy mail and wire fraud which lasted for more than 6 years.

Verne Global to turn NATO command center in Iceland into a data center

Iceland will get its own attention grabbing data center from Verne Global. The company announced it will use a former NATO command center to build one. Construction will be financed by Wellcome Trust, the largest investor in Verne.
