Apache Server on Windows vulnerabilities

Serious vulnerabilities were discovered in the  Apache HTTP Server on a Windows operating system. Most reliable hosting company websites in February 2010

NaviSite was named the most reliable hosting company website in February, according to a Netcraft survey. The company uses Apache on CentOS. DataPipe came in second place, followed by INetU. Six of the top ten sites were running Linux. Two identifiable hosts ran FreeBSD and one ran Microsoft’s Windows Server 2008.

ACS opens green data center in U.K.

Affiliated Computer Services has invested $3 million in a green data center in Telford, UK. Designed and built by IBM, 70 percent in energy costs would be saved as a result, which turns to approximately 4,200 tonnes of carbon footprint reduction.

Study shows data center growth to continue

In an annual study conducted by Digital Realty Trust regarding US data centers, 83 percent of respondents stated they had plans to expand its data centers in a year or two. 36 percent said they will expand this year, and 73 percent will add at least two more facilities.

Eleven2 opens headquarters in Houston

Web hosting provider Eleven2 announced today that it has opened its new corporate headquarters in Houston. Located in a third floor of a six-story multi-tenant office building, the new headquarters will allow the company to double the amount of onsite employees of the company as well as strengthen its staff for customer support department.

Aflexi launches Fleximart bandwidth marketplace

Fleximart, a bandwidth marketplace which lets web hosts trade, buy, or sell bandwidth in real time and on the fly, has been launched by Aflexi. The prices can either be fixed or traded in an auction style. A search engine is also included which helps buyers target desired locations for traffic performance.

Government to consolidate over a thousand data centers

Pacnet’s $300M data center network play

Pacnet, Asia’s telecommunications provider, has announced plans to invest over $300 million in building a data center network consisting of 10 DCs (all based in Asia), over the next three years. Previous reports suggest the company’s investment might go as high as $600 million.
