Dallas Alcatel to be transformed into DC for Digital Realty Trust

A former Alcatel campus near Dallas, Texas will be transformed into a massive data center for Digital Realty Trust. The company acquired three data centers this month in Santa Clara. The construction and operation of the upcoming data center will bring 172 jobs this year and over 1,200 jobs through 2015.

Dediserve raises $1.3 million for expansion

An Irish-based web hosting provider Dediserve has secured $1.34 million in financing. The funding, which was acquired from a private investment group, will be used to increase staff, data center sites, and pursue expansion via acquisition. The company also announced it will open sites in the US, UK, and Dublin by the end of 2010.

Logic Solutions merges with Arachne Web

Logic Solutions announced that it has merged with Arachne Web Technologies. The deal benefits the customers of Arachne since they can now access the extensive resources of Logic Solutions, which employs over 120 people. The company has headquarters in Ann Arbor and Michigan. It also has offices in Nanjing, China and Shanghai, Beijing.

North Lanarkshire, Scotland data center approved

The data center proposed by Gillespie Investments Group has been approved to be built at North Lanarkshire, Scotland. The project will provide 30 to 40 jobs as well as full-time construction jobs for 214 people.

Infosys opens Aussie data center, hires 100 employees

An Indian IT service provider Infosys Technologies has opened a data center in Australia. Last year the company signed a $450 million contract with Telstra, an Australian telecommunications firm, for which the new DC was built. Infosys Technologies expects 100 people to work at the data center, 90 of whom were already hired.

Oracle finalizes Sun Microsystems purchase

Oracle has completed the $7.4 billion acquisition of Sun Microsystems. As a result of this deal, close to 2,000 people will be laid off (out of approximately 28,000 working around the world). Most experts believe the deal will provide Oracle with an edge in the information systems market.
