NaviSite was named the most reliable hosting company website in February, according to a Netcraft survey. The company uses Apache on CentOS. DataPipe came in second place, followed by INetU. Six of the top ten sites were running Linux. Two identifiable hosts ran FreeBSD and one ran Microsoft’s Windows Server 2008.

According to NetCraft’s report, domain registrar GoDaddy has issued more new SSL certificates than any other provider in 2008. A total of 220,000 new SSL certificates were issued last year and the famous domain registrar was responsible for over 100,000 of them (47% of the market share).
Netcraft web server survey for the month of January have just been released. Apache’s market share grew by 1.27 million sites while Microsoft IIS lost 2 million over the previous month. Two million expired blogging sites have caused Microsoft IIS the largest loss of any web server. Google’s Blogger service lost approximately 600,000 sites.
