An alternative in the industry of SSL certificates has been discussed by the GlobeSSL CCO. The features of GlobeSSL include domain mismatch protection, free website seal, and a 30-day money back guarantee. A price and feature comparison table was also offered, comparing it with companies such as GoDaddy and GeoTrust.
Netfirms customers are now able to purchase SSL certificates. For as low as $20 per year, the company will automatically apply the certificate on a customer’s site after he or she fill out a form related to his or her domain name. The purchasing process is easily arranged through user control panel.
Web hosting provider Rackspace has extended its line of offering to Secure Sockets Layer certificates. The company can now directly sell, install, and renew SSL certificates from VeriSign. Rackspace is also offering Extended Validation SSL Certificates which help prevent phishing scams. The certificates are available via the customer portal of MyRackspace.com.
GoDaddy is hoping to increase its market share with a $200 Extended Validation certificate offered by the company. An Extended Validation lets a customer use a single certificate on many servers. VeriSign has so far been the leader of SSL certificate sales.

According to NetCraft’s report, domain registrar GoDaddy has issued more new SSL certificates than any other provider in 2008. A total of 220,000 new SSL certificates were issued last year and the famous domain registrar was responsible for over 100,000 of them (47% of the market share).
UK payment provider PayPoint.net has partnered with Comodo, a service provider of Internet-based identity and trust assurance solutions. The announcement was made two days ago by Comodo. PayPoint.net customers will benefit by getting special discounts on Comodo SSL and EV, SSL certificates. In return, Comodo customers will receive special offers of PayPoint.net’s online payment services.
