News stories from the web hosting industry ranged this week from technical to just plain fun; here are two of the most eye-catching pieces seen and heard over the past seven days.

GoDaddy returns to Super Bowl with customary edgy ads

It is almost customary that every year we see domain registrar GoDaddy.com take part in the Super Bowl commercial run. This year is no exception. There will be at least two ads featuring Danica Patrick, company’s long time spokesperson. The ads are already available on company website.

GoDaddy Super Bowl TV ad among most-watched

Along with Bud Light Lime, GoDaddy.com Super Bowl commercial was seen by the most viewers (103.2 million), as reported by The Nielsen Company. The company has also reported an increase in new customers following the exposure.

GoDaddy gains new customers after Super Bowl ad

GoDaddy reported a 10% increase in new customers after their 2009 Super Bowl campaign, aired after the final 2-minute warning. The commercial features an IndyCar driver Danica Patrick in the Shower. While the ad caused some controversy, GoDaddy stated two out of three women liked the ad.
