Layered Technologies adds Windows Server 2008

Windows Server 2008 is now available to be deployed on Astro which is an automated web hosting platform of Layered Technologies. Previously, only Unix and Linux operating systems were offered by the company. Astro can also display server inventory in real-time and the customers are able to configure their server easily.

Merchant company Allstate enters web hosting market

The credit ad debit processor company Allstate Merchant Services announced it has entered the web hosting market in order to expand its services.

SurpassHosting to serve the U.K. market

Florida-based web hosting provider Surpass Hosting now has a web hosting plan specifically tailored for the U.K. market. The servers that will power company’s U.K. operations are located in a BlueSquare Data facility near London. Surpass Hosting announced it plans to expand similar offerings to other countries such as Malaysia and New Zealand.

Drift2 acquires Utaria.net, discontinues brand

The Minnesota-based shared hosting provider Utaria.net has been acquired by Drift2 Web Service. As part of the migration process, all existing Utaria.net members will be moved to under the Drift2 brand and data integrated to its primary cluster. Drift2 plans to discontinue the Utaria.net brand once the migration is complete.

MaximumASP launches server monitoring tool MaxV

Web hosting and managed IT services provider MaximumASP has launched MaxV Account Center Interface, which allows users to view server information such as system performance metrics and server health.  Users can also scan for viruses and run updates. MaxV VPS was designed to behave like a stand-alone server.
