RegisterFly may lose its ICANN accreditation if they do not make some drastic changes within the next 15 days.

That is one long document, but it does smell like trouble for RegisterFly.
That would impact quite a lot of people should they lose accreditation.

This is only weeks after enom's move

Quote:
As of February 6, 2007, eNom, Inc. terminated RegisterFly, Inc. as an eNom reseller. RegisterFly will continue to have reseller access for thirty days to resolve any outstanding issues. For any pending customer support issues concerning Registerfly, please contact them directly. If you have any questions regarding eNom products or services, please contact eNom directly.

... looks like the fly is getting squashed.

Huh nice I like the sound of this for RegisterFly.

I have a domain now that I cannot renew and was not able to transfer. I have been trying to renew the domain for more than 2 weeks now and I cannot do it.

I also tried transferring the domain without luck. They have taken money from me and I have positive balance and registerfly tells me that the reason for failure of the renewl is due to billing problems.

I have 3 other domains there that will be in trouble to if I cannot get them out in time and I do not think I am going to be able to.

Registerfly is just conduction business fraud on a daily basis and it is only getting worse so it seems. They need to be shutdown ASAP.

I filed ICANN complaints about my issues and I filed Paypal and Bank Fraud charges against them for not returning my money or executing the transaction of what the money was billed for.

Just what I need something else that is addicting. I am already addicted to this forum and WHT.

I really hope registerfly goes down for all of the problems they have caused.

What happens to my domains if they do go under though?

I have an expired domain now that needs to be renewed but I cannot get it done with Registerfly. It tells me that is a billing problem but it also says I have funds available.

Sorry, you'll just have to keep on at their support department and hope, or try going through ICANN for the EPP code.

Update: http://www.icann.org/announcements/a...nt-02mar07.htm

Quote:
* In addition to this legal action, ICANN today convened a telephone conference among those needed to implement a plan that will help cease unintended deletions. The participants were registries holding RegisterFly names: Afilias (.info), Neustar (.biz), VeriSign (.com, .net), RegisterFly backend services provider Tucows and eNom (for which RegisterFly was a reseller) as well as representatives of RegisterFly.

* The Registries involved have agreed to move any RegisterFly names in Redemption Grace Period* status into Server-Delete-Prohibited status. This will prevent them from being deleted from the registry and becoming available for re-registration by others. ICANN commends and encourages this example of cooperation to protect registrant data.

Yeah, one long letter, I skimmed it so I could finally make a post before I go grey. I've never used registerfly but I've heard consistant negative feedback about the Registrar. I just did a quick search by google, and their reputation was leading to this.

Would be interesting to know how many domains are registered with RegisterFly

one day people will learn cheap != good

afaiui 900,000 domains were under their "control" at the point they stopped being and enom reseller, although thy appear to have gone downhill, its likely to be in that ballpark

I am not shocked but surprised that it took them so long, when people have been crying for many years. With the way Registerfly was deteriorating, the decision isn't surprising. I just feel pity for thousands of users who fell for $0.60 .info traps Registerfly kept running on Fridays-Saturdays.

I don't have any domains with them but best of luck for all who get affected. Just wondering did Registerfly send any email regarding this or is Registerfly just going to vanish leaving behind many who never checked ICANN or eNom or visited forums.

Well more than likely there will be an actual news article on it. If users have not noticed, heard about, or bothered to attempt research on why registerfly is inaccessible. Someone may mention it to that person or it will be a new article later on that they see for themselves. That is if there has not already been a news article on this published on tv or through a newspaper.
