What do you think of the new .asia domain? We don't see alot of hosts making them available. Compared to .mobi it seems like more of a fad than a trend. Honestly, when it comes to markets for asia and mobile communication is it worth putting effort into these markets or is it all hype?

Some may argue but personally, I just think it of it as a another domain extention, full stop.

I think it would be useful depending on your market and whether or not you need to anticipate competition for your site name from that market. Someone as big as apple or microsoft will need to buy the .asia, but I would never need to bother, you know?

I've been reading a lot about the gambling industry growing like wildfire in Asia. This would probably be a great extension for them. Probably any business with an Asian base would like this, as well. I don't see it being particular useful to most of us.

Also good for travel, hotel & recipe sites those would like to target Asian countries. However as usual the good domain has been already taken.

There's another new domain that appeared on the market and it's .ME. I am not sure it will be as popular as .asia, but it allows more room for a flight of imagination, I mean domains like kiss.me or kill.me.
During Go Live it wll be around 24Eurs/year at Eurodns.com.

I think there's starting to be too many domain name extensions.

I tend to stay away from any area specific domains as I think it would have an adverse affect on your business unless that area was the ONLY place you wanted to do business and even then I just don't get a warm fuzzy over it.

The thing is that formally being a local domain name extension .me is goinmg to avoid being applied to the local area only and will be used as a catchy marketing tool allowing for a number of combinations.

I'm not sure if local presence is required by EuroDNS.com to get a .me domain but I'm sure this will be a rather competitive domain name.

One doesn't a lot, actually, doesn't look like there's any demand for it.

soon .ASIA extension is going to be competing against a whole range of extensions (.paris, .apple and so on) so it will be very competitive in the domain market. But, i feel if a businesses has an 'Asian presence' overseas then a .ASIA domain investment might be a good call.
