I hope they might have included in their TOS that they can make changes in price without notice. The same goes for domain name offer from Yahoo!, you might have seen similar offering. Also transferring domain from Yahoo is troublesome.

Never hosting with yahoo, but i think that should be stated clear in the T&C..

I got a cheap domain name a couple years ago from Yahoo because of a special that they were running. When it was time to renew, it was going to be $34.95 for just renewal. I was like "I don't think so" and let the domain name lapse as I wasn't currently using it for anything.

Wow that's one big chuncky increase! That just doesn't seem right up $15??? I don't have a domain in Yahoo and now I probably won't be getting one anytime soon specially if they randomly hike up the prices.

try contacting them about it maybe you can resolve the problem and stay with them

Yes,Hosting companies generally endorse these penny type marketing techniques,where the charge less for some time then bomarde!!

That is true Hive, but that is also a pretty damn good price jump right there. What if say you bought a server (since I see you host as well) and it was maybe 500 bucks (rented), then say you have that same server for 2 more months (still paying that 500/mo price) and then WAMO the next month you are charged 1500.00 instead? See where I am going with this.....

There is no doubt that I find the price increase a bit outrageous.
That is quite an increase to say the least.

That will definitely tick off a lot of clients if the price hiked up that high.

Like get real - maybe a few dollars is whatever, but jumping $33? Are you getting anything extra with this deal, or have they messaged / prewarned you about the price jump?

To me that sounds like bad business. jumping up more then 100% and not telling them about it. I will never use yahoo for anything.

They probably did you a favor by pushing you to someone else! One of my colleagues has been using them and doesn't have much favorable to say. He's had trouble with the sites going down, emails not getting through, FTP issues, and, most importantly, zero tech support. Seriously, he would email and never get a response. Not even an automated one. Really poor CS.

I've had some customers come over from me to Yahoo. They've been pleased with price, support, uptime, stability, and no price increases. One client has been with me for over five years, and has brought two other friends over from Yahoo (and stopped a third from ever even trying Yahoo.) They don't seem to have much going for them apart from name recognition.

Lol its one story to the next. I wonder how such a big company can get away with this, you would think they would know support is everything in the web hosting industry.
