I know of somebody who is looking for a .cn extension however the Domain Registrar is only offering cn.com & tried to search with other providers, but the price is too high for .cn. Any suggestions that I can help the guy with?

$30 seems kind of high for a country specific tld, but I suppose people are willing to pay it.

Country level domains, usually is more expensive, specially if the registry is exclusive like in some countries besides China like the Philippines for example.

That is way too expensive for me. I don't understand either why they sell it at such a high price and why some people still register it. So, any enlightening explanation about the advantages of .cn over .com, for instance?

That's like saying what's the advantage of snickers over the three musketeers.

Does anyone know if people from China actual use the .cn extension more than .com?

For the most part, all the Chinese websites I've come across have been .com
