I do not prefer to use shortcut URL's for SEO purpose. If somehow I need to use short URL then I opt Goo.gl URL Shortener.

I can see the pros and cons of using short url's. Obviously it saves having to give a very long link, however it also doesn't help your SEO, and some people may be skeptical about if the link really does go to where you said it goes.

You would probably be better off having your own URL shortening script with your domain. This way you can still help your SEO, and your users may feel a little safer knowing that the company generated the short URL.

Don't really like them myself, whenever I click on them I seem to always have to wait about 10 seconds while an advert appears before I can actually view what I clicked on.

I use Google's short URL service, it's pretty nice and gives you stats too.

I personally don’t use them and I do not particularly like clicking on them either as to many people use them to hide their affiliate links etc.

This is a home run shot I agreed with your comment. IMO short URL function is only for tweety birds.

On twitter yes, but otherwise not really. We setup our own system though so we don't need to go through bit.ly and the like.
