Does anyone here have any experience with 1and1 domain registration service? Their prices are at least $1 lower than GoDaddy or NameCheap (as well as a lot of other registrars), so why don't everyone switch to 1and1 to save money? Is there any catch to their service that I haven't noticed?

Best,

My dad (45) had a few problems with them in the past. When i was 18 he had to get a lawyer to get his domains to be moved to godaddy.com. Other then that i don't see any thing worng with them.

Some might not be aware of the domain name prices of 1and1.

None that I'm aware of. I contacted them and they said you are not obligated to purchase any of their other services if you register a domain name.

Andrew, well that kind of makes it a big potential problem if they create such a hard time for their customers to move domains away...

Most of what I've heard about 1and1 is bad. Complaints range from a lousy user control panel to big difficulties changing registrars.

The consensus seems to be that it's not worth the savings.

Another option is to open a reseller account with Directi.
$6.99 per domain with a minimum $75 deposit.
Saves a couple of dollars per domain over Godaddy and Namecheap.

Blue, I use a $1 OFF coupon at GoDaddy anyway, so it brings the price down to $6.95 for every domain. Coupon: USA6 if you'd like to use it.

GAH! Art! You gave my secret away!

The two coupons I have:
Buy1: Takes $2 off regular price for .com domain registration.
USA6: Takes $1 off domain registration for 1 year.

And I only use GoDaddy for domain registrations, especially since Bob is from Cedar Rapids - my hometown.

I don't know about Modernbill but WHMAP won't have directi support until the full release of version 3.

Never had an issue with 1&1; Nameservers take a while to update, but there cheap for .co.uk domain names. Most of my domains I purchase at domainsite.com good to know Nameservers are updated instantly Registeration registered instantly, and good domain system; and of course $6.99 a year.
