are those sites for real? how can they possibly give a domain a value with the limited amount of information they ask for? Besides isnt a domain only worth what someone is willing to pay for it

I think they've just got set criteria they work to....

a .com is more desirable than a .co.uk, less letters = better price and stuff like that. There are some free appraisals out there although i can't remember where.

yeah ive tried a few of the free ones

i have tryed lots of free ones, and one gave me a price of over $3,000 where as the rest was under $500, weird!

I still reel from the time when domains just started to happen and i checked a few domains and news.com was available - doh - didn't bother getting it - darn domains were free at the time also. Doh!

those were the days........... I also remember back when I thought that freenetname were the bees knees (before I was a webhost btw). And I didnt get spam in my hotmail inbox (before it was MSN).
