Hi, I'm looking for software like Jabber IM. I want to run my own IM on my server. I'm also looking for someone to moderate the "Hosting" section on my forum.

If anyone's heard about software like Jabber IM or someone that could code something like it please contact me.

Jabber is open source, and will allow you to develop your own application based on it.

Have you tried reading through their documentation, etc? It can be difficult to understand in some portions, but it will allow you to do exactly what you're trying to do.

I'll read it when I get some time. You have any idea what kinda of bandwidth it uses?

The bandwidth usage really depends on the user usage.

While I have never used it myself, I have heard that it is relatively small.

In addition, I would go a step further and communicate with your host, about your intentions. They may have some limitations regarding this kind of thing, and you may find yourself homeless, so to speak.

i'll just have to start reading a bit more i think. spend some more time on the important stuff and get me a bigger server. I asked some people on jabber's site about it and they're telling me to rather not invest in it if I don't need to.
