I have to vote for thunderbird. I use mail.app on the mac and thunderbird on windows and the spam protection is far better on tbird. I also find I cant live with out the thunder browse extension.

I vote Thunderbird for sure. It provides an excellent feature for encryption and learns how to handle spam easily. I would not trade it for anything. The best part? Its free! It beats Microsoft Outlook 2007 hands down!

I was using thunderbird but now switched to MS Office Outlook.

Talking about MS Outlook 2007, do you know if its possible to just activate/buy this program alone or you won't get around buying the whole office suite?
