I've used PHPBB many times and found it very user friendly and easy to use. I also recommend VBulleting like other users have as it is an excellent forum script. Anybody remember UBB? Ultimate Bulletin Board. . . Back in the day this was the best script in my opinion. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultimate_Bulletin_Board

Agreed. When times are tough, free is always good. You won't go wrong with either of these.

I agree phpBB but if you want a complete site with a forum I would suggest considering running Joomla and use the Kunena Forum Extension.

I've had good experience with phpBB but imo if you're going to run the forum for profit you might want to look at vBulletin.

phpBB is easy to use but it is worth paying for vBulletin and only setting up your forum right the first time.

Hello Friends,

Thanks For giving your suggestions about the forum software. This provides good information about the softwares. Problems of softwares,benefits.. etc.

I prefer Vbulliten then other forum software as it can't be hacked,is powerful, easy to use, provides greater stability..

No doubt it is a little costlier then other but its features are far more better than others..

Very well said, just do the research and you will be shown that vBulletin can be hacked and that it has been hacked.

Choose SMF for easy and fast forum configurations.
While PhpBB is a forum software with full features. Need sometime to learn and get use with the admin management part.

ASP.NET Forum system for .NET developers, Community Server will be a good choice!

vBulletin and phpbb are most popular.
The best one is vBulletin, it's easy and powerful, but it is not free.If I want a free one I choose phpbb.

I prefer VBulletin as well. Lots of features, and the software is always kept up to date. With my license (on one of my sites) I got a year of updates and support.
