Just wondering if anyone could tell me how much bandwidth a forum usually uses? Do different hosting packages have big differences in bandwidth usage?

Would depend on a lot of different things.. ammount of posts, members, images, how complex the layout of the forum was.. etc..

Its far too hard to say how much a forum would use, its just like a normal site, if you had a site with just text and few hits, it would use a small amount of bandwidth.
With a forum, if you have a skin with few images and not many hits, the bandwidth usage is going to be low again.

Yes, a forum is 100% exactly like a website, just usually alot more interactive for the viewer where they can actually put in some input instead of just reading what has already been put there.
