Google launching 1Gbps ISP service to select markets at 'competitive prices.'

This should turn broadband on it's head. I can hardly wait.

The reach of Google will never cease to amaze me. They have become what Microsoft WAS. So long as they don't go too far down the negative road that Microsoft went, they should be fine.

And like everything else, most of what Google touches turns to gold!

This seems to be along the lines of their previous statements that the Internet in the United States needs to become faster:
Quote:
Earlier in the year the FCC [Federal Communications Commission] started its proceedings to create a national broadband plan, and in our view that's a great step in the right direction, to make the U.S. once again a leader in broadband.

The Internet was essentially invented here, but over the years we've fallen further and further behind in speed, deployment, penetration.

And we think it is essential that there be a national goal to have fast, affordable and open access to the Internet.

I am all for higher competition and deeper geographical penetration in the broadband game.

What should the main market of Google be? They've excelled in many areas and I believe they're better than MOST companies with everything they're involved with.

It'll be interesting to see what they do with the Power Grid since they were approved to sell power back to the grid. Hopefully their teaming up with GE and can do some GOOD damage to the stranglehold on the Energy Market with "Google Energy LLC"

Write them a letter - voice your concerns. I'm curious what their response would be. Just kidding! I still have good vibes about Google.
