Do you like the new design of Google's Search engine results pages? It looks modern and clean, but I dislike having left column. It distracts my attention - not on the way like I want to see ads there ( this was for Google's biz dev team, not to interpreter my comments in a wrong way )

What do you think?

I personnaly hate the left bar they added. But google normally adjust in time and pretty quickly to whats better. I have no doubt any design is good if its made by google!

So far I like it, but I haven't done much searching since the change. It seems ok though.

I don't really pay that much attention to Google designs in general, simply because I know Google works.

It's okay. I actually thought about switching to Bing or Yahoo! for a bit, but didn't when I realized they weren't any better.

Bing is good! It worths to go there every day only to see what kind of photo they have chosen.

I don't quite know what to make of it yet. Been using it for a couple of days without much excitement, but I am pretty sure there is a lot more smarter algorithm behind the left navigation bar. It learns about your search processes the more you use and adapts for better information display.

For example, I would often use: regular and news search (last 24 hours, last week), as well as "define: keyword" search, and now I noticed most of the time it gets me all these results at the top for my searches, which saves me time.

But then again I might be completely wrong about what's taking place in reality.

Regardless, I don't mind the new look. It hasn't changed a lot and I am sure we will all get used to it with time. Design-wise, I've always thought Google was one of the worst companies when it comes to packaging products and services.

This left navigation bar pisses me off.
As such I have stopped using Google.

Until they provide an easy way to get rid of the left navigation bar I will use other providers.

Mike, that's quite radical! But an interesting experiment. Let us know if you find a better substitute to Google in terms of comfort and results.

There has got to be sites there that allow you to search multiple search engines at once with a simple interface. You pick search engines you want to search and they do the rest.

Dogpile.com is fine.
Google is convenient but I see no reason to support them when they make this kind of change without the option to opt out.

I'm not too sure if I like the search results as of yet, it was very clean before but now it has the extra side bar and the fonts seem a bit weird for me.
