Video marketing is simply publishing your message online through videos. Videos could be just about anything—you talking, a product demo, a promotional campaign, or anything that highlights your company or product/service.
These videos don’t have to be professionally made—even inexpensive cameras will work. The key is to create buzz around your video. If it is clever, funny, interesting, relevant, or unique in any way, it will get traffic. Get creative … and have fun!
What do you think friends??

I guess it depends on what the intent is with the video as to whether you even need a video or not. For me, selling a hosting service and having a 90 year old guy stumbling through his words would do more damage than good. By the same token, having a 20 yearold in a bikini can also damage the reputation.
While GoDaddy and similar companies experienced a huge surge in online sales, there's also a massive movement AWAY from them due to their style of advertising. And lets not forget Bob's video of shooting an elephant. While it was a video, was it really somethign that should have gone online?
Video advertising is no different than graphic advertising on websites, mailing campaigns, forum postings or even word of mouth. There must be a solid message within the content.
Now, something that you seem to have missed when talking about the video is the value of video especially when it comes to search engines.
A video on a subject is 53 times more likely to show on the first page of Google (according to Forrester Research). This is HUGE. You can, in some cases, throw out your regular SEO campaigns and focus on Video Marketing. Video is more likely to be passed from person to person and makes for a great viral campaign if done correctly.
So SHOULD you have video - YES, if done correctly. Making a video for the sake of making a video is a waste of your time (and mine - the sucker who has to watch it).

Is video powerful stuff? Absolutely! Consider some very simple videos that have over 1 million views How To Make Chocolate Cake - 1.86 million views
Evolution of Dance - 142 million views
Rebecca Black - My Moment - 23 million views (3 million in one day!) Consider this - 36% of videos with over 100 million views were created with user generated content
Having a video that ranks well can put you on page one against very competitive sites that have thousands of back links and high page rank.

Video marketing is a very powerful tool, when done correctly. It has been shown that certain audiences prefer watching a message, rather than reading or listening to one. Video provides information in an engaging way. But be cautious, there are more things to take into consideration when making a video compared to writing an article.

When it is done correctly means what? Is there any rules of video marketing?

Personally I am not interested for video marketing. From my experience very few people would be interested to watch over your video and the convention is really too little.

I don't think so. If you have high speed internet, you will be interested to watch over videos.

Video Marketing is very important for everything. Video marketing helps increasing rankings of websites because Google loves videos. You can put your keyword as anchor text.

Nowadays, people are getting attracted with videos. I have a huge traffic to my site from Youtube. It is the very effective way to market your business.

Web video has become an essential part of marketing your business online. Video has always been a nice to have, or a future task, but now it’s getting harder and harder to ignore the benefits of using video online to promote your business website.
Here are some of the reasons why video marketing is important in online marketing :-
1. Youtube is the second largest search engine on the planet
2. Videos show up in Google search results.
3. Videos can actually rank better than your website.
4. Videos stand out in the search results.
5. Videos keep people on your website longer.

I agree what video when done right is a go. Our team as I type is working on a video concept.

Maybe not rules, but guidelines. I wrote this last June - might help someone.
Quote:
Creating videos that draw traffic and produce results (ROI) – isn’t as hard as you might imagine. You don’t need a $7000 video camera or production crew, but you do need to follow some simple guidelines – to separate your video from the millions already out there competing for your time. The cold hard facts – you have just 8 seconds on average to capture your viewer’s attention. If you don’t have a HOOK that underscores a unique perspective, achievement, offer or curiosity – that causes some sensory stimulation, 80% of your prospects will move on without watching the entire video.
If you’re presenting a hidden benefit - (something your audience may not have heard of), that’s a unique curiosity hook. A lot of HOW TO videos are based on hidden benefits.
If you’re presenting a better way to do something - or looking at a solution from a different angle, that’s a unique perspective hook. I can envision using this hook to sell any number of products or services, from SEO consulting to building a deck in your backyard.
If you start your video by underscoring your awards or successes – that’s a unique achievement hook. Would visitors rather watch a video on self-defense from a white belt or a black belt martial artist?
And the most often used HOOK in business videos – the unique powerful offer, which normally revolves around words such as FREE, risk free, exceeds your expectations and so on.
Design your hook to last no more than 30 seconds to 1 minute - then transition to your explanation on how you intend to help them get from the promise of the hook to the results they want.
Always, always - start the meat of your video with, “In this video, I’m going to … show you (how to get from point “query” to point “results”). Then show how it works, how they can do it and what they need to produce results – and finally, when they can expect to realize those results.
End your video with a call to action – if you do this, you will get that.
My Recommendation – educate your viewer, using a mixture of graphics that forces them to look. Demonstrate ownership experience by showing them a working example, which attributes to goal manifestation.
To increase your ROI - remember that a confused prospect never buys – present your video with a SINGLE action oriented goal, and match that to what the viewer AND you want.

I agree with you. Video marketing is important. There was this one company. The made a toothbrush and did not sell a single one. They proceeded to post a video about the tooth brush on YouTube. After posting the video they sold out.
Here recently I got a few ideas for YouTube commercials (videos). Here pretty soon I am going to film the videos and post them. Hopefully they get a lot of hits and sell my services.
