Hello everyone,

Hope you all are having a great and relaxing holiday! It's time for a new watch and I'm looking for some opinions. I'm interested in purchasing the following watch but does the price seem to good to be true?

http://www.amazon.ca/Invicta-1442-Bl...4879674&sr=8-1

From what I can see the watch is brand new, and retail on the watch has huge mark-up considering how much it's listed on Amazon.

Please let me know your thoughts.. I'd love to hear them!

- Tanner

I've never heard of Invicta (I am more of a Breguet, Patek Philippe or Blancpain kind of guy - I own none of those, haha), but the discount seems very attractive.

Have you checked this model on other sites, including eBay and what it goes for there? Perhaps it's Amazon's way to stimulate a sale by offering a discount that would appear large, but essentially represent the current market price of an item...

haha thanks for the response Artashes! I just did a quick search for your preferred watches and found this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...sr=8-2&seller=

Also I did a search and found that the 100USD price is quite competitive but most put the retailer's price at 550USD or above and I'm just not quite sure where the retailer actually sells from.

I think I'm going to order the watch and if I'm not satisfied send it back.. seems like a good deal.

Totally a good deal. I think that perhaps the original suggested retail price was $550, followed by manufacturer lowering the price or allowing retailers to lower it. What shops did, instead of changing the price, they'd slap a discount amount on it to make it more appealing. Obviously smart.

That Breguet model is mid-range from what I've seen. I've touched an $135,000 one once.

For watches, I prefer buying Casio brands ( cause they are affordable - suits my budget )

But for the watch you state above, it is okay , because it offers a nice discount, so I can say it's a good deal

I like these myself:

As the old announcer used to say:

"It's not a real watch, unless it's a Wittnauer." (or something to that effect...)
