I work an average of 8-10 hours a day. Working up in Tennessee with a non-profit putting in 40 hours there, then after that I spent off time doing personal projects which is all pretty much online work so I wouldn't consider it work

I work more for myself than I ever did as an employee for someone else, but if I want the day off I take it and if the kids are sick I am at home.

One thing is for sure, I love what I do and I do not look at it as work.

This may be true, but you still have to look at it as work/business mainly because as a host others rely on you being their for them if their site has issues

Except working hours, I also work once receiving any urgent emails. So depends on work situation.

I work about 9 hours a day (including lunch break) so I guess it's really more like 8 or so... Do you guys stay overtime very often? Are you encouraged to do so?

8+ hours a day, sometimes even on weekends. The simple rule is the more you do, the higher the return.

Our management team is pretty much on call 24/7. We'll alternate to allow each of us to get some sleep. Our techs are on a 4 day work week pulling 10 hour shifts. I totally agree with incloudibly when they stated "The simple rule is the more you do, the higher the return." There is zero substitution for hard work.

I work as a faculty in computer science. And when I'm not teaching, I'm working for my hosting business.

Actually my staff get more leisure time to spend than me!

But, I never felt I'm working as I love what I do(hosting/teaching).

When our company just started, my colleague and I were working 10 hrs a day. Now, the load is a little lighter coz we have more people doing the menial tasks. But then we get more customers now too so I'm still on a 9 hour shift after 10 years in the hosting business.
