For those of you who have never seen a 3D printer, I urge you find one and try it, or see a demo. They are amazing to watch; your jaw will drop. I once printed a working crescent wrench (that's a special type of spanner -- for those of you who don't speak proper English )

I Watched a recent episode of "How it's made" the other day, where they used a 3-D printer to print out very intricate and detailed solid metal statues and fancy door handles!

Si-Fi stuff!

I don't think what's the big hype about 3D printed guns. Those who want a gun, can get one - 3D printed or not. Actually getting a regular non-3D printed gun is probably much cheaper and much more reliable.

I think its the fact they are made of plastic and can be delivered in sheet form with instructions to build, so therefore avoiding border xray systems

but it would be easier for them to purchase bullets in the USA than an actual gun

I'd be terrified of pulling the trigger and blowing my hand off.

sames here, also its a lot of money for a plastic gun that you need a nail to use as a trigger

I've never seen one, but I bet they're pretty amazing. A working crescent wrench? How durable is that plastic?

3-D printers can print solid metal.

Although the plastic is very durable also, as it can be used in space to replace broken or lost tools for the astronauts.
