Next month I will be in New Orleans for the Institute of Food Technologists annual meeting.
This is an amazing event. There is such a huge amount of information and new products available. My brain will be buzzing after the show.

Hmmmmm ... New Orleans. Wonderful city. Was there before most of you were born (I think). Planned to be there 7 days ... I remember the first day and a half ... the next thing I remember clearly is being back home and its the day before I had to go back to work.

I was told I had a VERY good time. I tend to believe them because whenever I think of New Orleans ... I still get a big dumb smile on my face for some reason

Have a good time Blue ... but not so good only your subconscious remembers it

Good for you, Michael. Have a great time.

Vito, there will be a food festival sometime in August in Montreal. Why don't you stop by? There is a cover charge and then you can try all the food from all over the world, too.

The New Orleans Jazz Festival is a great event. I'd like to go sometime.

Vito

This one isn't as much about tasting Vito, although I do have reservations at Emeril's and Commander's Palace.

This one will be an intensive learning process. I will be researching new products for food product research and development.
The hours will go toward a research chef certificate.
We will be using this information for curriculum development for our 4 year culinary degree program that starts in October.

Thanks, Artashes, but I'm all travelled out this year. I think I'll have to pass.

Blue, either way, you still have a very cool job. Congrats.

Hey, see if you can bring me back a chef's hat or two from Emeril's. (My daughter and I ritually wear the ones you brought back from Germany whenever we cook a meal together)

Vito

Do you have a date for that? We're going to Montreal for the St. Peter and the Vatican exhibition @ Notre Dame basilica in late july / very early august.

I've never been to New Orleans before, but I've heard some very positive things about it. I really want to go there sometime, even if it's just for a few days. The Jazz Festival that was mentioned sounds awesome, too. Do you think you would have the time to take some pictures and post them up for us? I'd really like to see some good visuals of that city and your trip.
