Again, I have to disagree. This was most definately a planned thing. These cartoons were published months ago with little reaction internationally and that is how it should have and could have stayed if these radical Muslims had not perpetuated the issue.

Freedom of expression and freedom of speech does cover the right to "hurt your feelings". If it didn't no one would ever be able to speak or write anything. What it doesn't cover is the right to burn down buildings and kill people.

You cannot deny that the Muslims being depicted are terrorists. I am on the record as saying that many of the US tactics on international policy would classify them as terrorist acts as well. There are terrorists from all parts of the world and all walks of life.

I don't think that a country's immigration policy can constitute racism.
In Toronto Canada, in the early 1990's, 90% of all violent crimes were committed by Jamaicans. Canada subsequently took a very strong immigration policy toward Jamaica. That is not racism it is doing what is best for the country and its citizens.

Cartoons are supposed to be something that entertain people and something that is not taken seriously. That is why they are usually found on the cartoon page in the entertainment section of newspapers.
Something tells me its not even about a cartoon. It is more of an excuse to build up the hatred toward the rest of the civilized world, and especially the west.

In all fairness, these cartoons were not published on the "cartoon" page, they were on the editorial page. That is a significant difference in perception but of course it still doesn't justify this kind of reaction.

I've never heard about these cartoons till two weeks ago, i was really shocked to know that it was first published on september, but i think a lil people heard about it at first coz that newspaper is not a major one in Denmark, but when other newspapers published that cartoons, like in France for example, the whole world knew it. and btw, do you know that you can find protestors in about 18 country ? Including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordon, Qatar, Morocco, Tunisia, Bengladeesh, Iran, Iraq, Palastine, Syria, Emarites, Sudan, Kuwait, Libia, Algeria, Indonesia, Philippians. And thats not including the Europian countries that have got some muslims there. Who do you think got the power to make that people do what they're doing, in more than 18 Country ?

You know, it may cover "Hurt Your Feeling", but in one case, if you write it in a reasonable way, for example, you can say" "Gawish you're a terrorist, bec. you did the following (and here write events proving what you've said)", but they didnt do that coz they know they wont find a SINGLE action that shows how Prophet Muhammed (P.B.U.H) is a terrorist.

I dont think that 90% of all violent crimes in Denmark were commited by Muslims, you've got to tell a reason what muslims have done to Denmark to try hardly getting them out of thier country.

Again i will tell you that its the way you think, you can laugh on some1 making fun of your religion, its ok, but its not the way Muslims think. Muslims believe that the religion is the greatest thing in his life. (i've said that before)

But the cartoon wasn't published in any Muslim newspapers. It was published in Denmark. I am guessing it isn't the first cartoon of same nature, but its the Muslims alone who are taking it that way.
In Russia, we have many daily newspapers with cartoons in them as part of an editorial material. No one is going on a killing spree about them. They are just that cartoons.

Excellent question! Because certainly someone does have that power. Religious leaders perhaps (since this is a religious issue)?
It takes some kind of organisation to start a demonstration. One doesn't just get out of the house to start marching.

It doesn't take a lot of power for this to happen.
Things like this are self perpetuating. If you remember last week the protests were isolated to Syria and Lebanon. That is what created all of the news. Other groups start to pick up on it and it spreads.

We had an Islamic religious leader talk about this as well on a press conference in Montreal 2 days ago, which was broadcasted live on CTV Newsnet.

I don't really know, I changed the channel almost immediately. But this article quotes some of the speakers:

Interesting Poll...
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060212/...on_cartoons_dc
Quote:
The Gallup survey in Denmark's Berlingske Tidende showed that 56 percent of the 1,003 Danes questioned last week understood that Muslims were offended by the cartoons, while 41 percent said they did not understand why Muslims were so angry.
Asked if it was wrong of Jyllands-Posten to publish the cartoons, 49 percent of respondents agreed, but 43 percent said the paper was right to print them.

Of course the numbers would have been drastically different if the poll were taken before the cartoons were published.

As i told you before, the situation doesnt need anybody to organise it, or to tell people do all those things, you dont know how these cartoons hurts a Muslim. and btw, have you ever heard in news about any "Muslim Riligous leaders" telling people to burn buildings down or do anything of that kind ? if what you say is true, we must have seen any news telling something even near to that. And as you've said "One doesn't just get out of the house to start marching" it must be a big organisation, or group of people organised that thing, so.. that proves my point, Please provide me with any link to news telling something about that.

what do you guys think was the reason behind the newspaper apology published, was it true they felt they offended us - Muslims or they just "found themselves in the eye of the storm of protest, with Danish diplomatic missions set on fire and Danish goods boycotted in several Muslim countries."

The point was pretty obvious.
Most cultures have the intelligence and maturity to remain peaceful in the face of adversity.

If this is not organized then the stereotype becomes reality. The belief that all Muslims are radicals and don't care about human life unless the person follows the strict rules of the koran is true. I really hope this is not the case.

I would say with 100% certainty that they just backed down because they don't have the balls to stand up to a bunch of radical idiots who know nothing more than violence and try to impose their way of life on others.
