Hello everybody and thank you in advance.

I have just started working for a small agency with 3 websites, all of which are on the same server (2 are .coms, 1 is .co.uk).

In the office is 4 computers each using the internet using 1 wireless router.

The problem is that when we try to access one of our .com sites about 25%of the time it comes up with unable to open.

If we contact somebody to try and view the page at the same time they will be able to open the page but we won't.

It is only that 1 site, we can view the internet and our other sites without a prolem.

If we unplug the router, leave it for a minute then plug it back in we are able to view our site. WHY?

I don't know if its a router problem or a server problem. Your help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

I got a wireless router also, I have the same problems its the wireless router loses connection to the web for a few seconds, if you try going to another site then go back to the site, you will find it should work ok.

If you can unplug the router and see improvement, it's probably the router. But as to why it's focussed on the one website, is a bit of a mystery. I would try to plug a few computers directly into the router (if they're on wireless now) and see if that does anything to the problem.

I have to agree I would believe it to be a router issue and not a server issue. Make sure that the firmware on the router is up to date. Thats my recommendation...

I had the same issue before with a website. I still do have the issue here and there. I'm not sure if it is the ISP or the server. Though another website I had a issue with just like this one. They had done something to the DNS and it worked perfectly. So I can't say if it really "was" the DNS issue or my ISP. Best way to test it is mabye not using the router for the day and see if the PC connected to the WAN/modem shows the same issues.

Sounds to me like a local DNS issue are you able to resolve the domain correctly all the time or does this fail now and then? if it fails to resolve it will make the web site not load and display a page cannot be displayed.

next time it stops working see if you can ping it (assuming the server allows icmp). This should tell you if it's

A) DNS
B) Routing

If it looks up fine but doesn't ping then do a tracert and see where it stops. I think that'd be the easiest way to diagnose the problem

It probably an issue with the configuration of the DNS server. Check with that before... also are you using your own cache or...?

I would like to ask more information about your problem if that is ok. Is the problem the same with all the 4 computers at the same time? I have a guess that those computers might be sharing the same IP address and also a DNS setup which might hinder your computer to open them. If it is a DNS problem, you could request for the DNS setup from the ISP.

Have you also tried using different browser to open the website? There are some websites that could be opened from a different browser, I'm not sure why though.

Well if you got this type of problem change your router and buy a buffelow router , i am working on it and balieve me i dont have these kinda problems at all....

I'd check any any caches and cleared them up.
