I am using Windows for a couple of years. But now I'm on my way of learning Linux. I think it is more advantageous than windows though at present it seems so complicated for me. One thing more you can have this OS free.

Schatzi the best thing of learning this OS, is you have it installed on your PC. It's really easy for you to explore and understand it's configs.

Absolutely.

Go for *nix unless you have need for asp etc.

That solutions sucks. If you need ASP, just go for windows or be left with 50% of what you need.

I use Linux for most servers; the only real reason that you'll need Windows is if you want to offer ASP...

Linux is generally OK for standard hositngs - it's only businesses that the server OS will actually matter too.

CentOS and RHEL are my favorite for typical shared / reseller packages. I wouldn't think of using anything else unless I wanted to offer windows hosting.
