While many hosts prefer the ease of hosting on Windows servers, many also like the stability and security of Linux and FreeBSD servers. What server operating system do you use? Why do you prefer that OS?

Linux is an open source and free too. It has been considered as the best OS for Web servers. It is the most reliable, stable and efficient system used for the Web and mail servers. All web servers are configured to support HTML files and JavaScript. There are many other type of Server Side scripting and interfaces, including PHP, ASP and ASP.net.

Linux by far the best I think for us. I have thought about offering Windows but just can not get myself to do it.

Fedora 4 is what I use. I find it gets the job done. But so can many other distros such as SUSE.

We always recommend Linux, for both web hosting and gameservers. We choose CentOS to be the operating system on all of our servers because of the low usage of CPU, and high stability
