I'm sure many people have thought about this before, but I would like to know the personal opinions of everyone here.

Is AMD or Intel better for a web server?

MOST data centers offer the choice of which hardware to buy for a server, and I have always gone with Intel, but I don't know the advantages or disadvantages or either against the other.

Please include why you think Intel is better than AMD or vise versa so I know the reasons for your opinions.

I'm sure if people add good reasons to this thread it could be a great help not only for me, but a lot of other people who may not know every difference between the two.

I do prefer AMD CPU's but that's personal and all our machines that are 'personal/business' use them but I tend to stick with Intel for servers (well and RISC processors) AMD has great specs per £ or $ and is a solid performer, but the majority of support on high end or public utilisation goes to Intel and RISC systems as they are more favoured by the major players.
