This is for those who run Windows servers. How do you do the MS updates? Do you have a test server? or just hope for the best? Ever had any problems with an update causing a Blue Screen or breaking things?

In the office here I need to make sure about 20 - 30 PC's and Servers are patched. For this I use MS SUS which means I just need to click on the update and hit approve and the morning after the updates are installed or ready to be installed depending on what machine it is.

For servers and the important production machines I set them to download and install and prompt to reboot. For regular desktops I set them to reboot automatically after the install.

On the webservers... I test the updates first and also search the web for each product we have installed and then after the test I do the updates late at night.

I havent had a problem on the web servers with updates. I have seen a conflict with a stats program which was easily fixed though a while back.

On a desktop I have seen a BSOD once and to fix this the BIOS needed an upgrade.

What are your plans for updates and do you do them ASAP after they are ready on the WU site?
