Which type of firewall do you guys prefer to use? Software on each server or a hardware solution?

I think the best solution is using both: a hardware firewall and a software, host-based firewall.

Yeah I would say both too, but firewalls are only as good as you make them too though..

We use a hardware firewall. We had some problems with the servers talking to one another when a software firewall was used.
