Setting up SMTP AUTH

I have been trying to find a tutorial or walk through on setting up Exim for Authorized use for SMTP. I haven't been successful in this area. Does anybody have a nice walk through for Exim on CentOS?

Hmm...Windows has suffered a catastrophic failure and will shut down -> my brain.

Please...somebody remind me how I would exim run as a group on the following...

/etc/shadow
/usr/lib/courier-imap/share/imapd.pem
/etc/pam.d/exim

I know it would be chgrp, but I can remember the correct syntax....or the next step...or step before that.
