I have used these Apache server distributions: WAMPP and XAMPP. I like their portable versions, where you can have all installation files in one folder and carry it on a USB flash drive.

What do you use?

XAMPP is what our developers use. Never used portable versions and so no comments on that!

I've used XAMPP more often than WAMP and I think it's a more complete solution than WAMP. Portable version is the same as installation, just more convenient.

I like MAMP for web development but I would never use them for production.

XAMPP would be my choice here. Looks better for quick development.

Like I said, it's good that XAMPP has a portable version, which is in so many ways convenient. Since I have three computers I need such solution.

These aren't really apache distributions, they are server in a box solutions, bundling together apache 2.x php 5.x and mysql 5.x.

There are some lighter alternatives to apache, Lighttpd is quite a popular distribution that's light on server resources.
