Hi there, this is my first post.

My work has asked me to research into this and I was just wondering if anyone can help me.

The company I work with has a web server installed right now, they have a class 3 IP xxx.xxx.xxx.1-255. In essence we have 255 IP that we can use for web sites. We want to know what type of software would we need to allow virtual DNS on each IP or even just 1 IP.

The reason for this is he wants to setup development/testing sites but don't want to tie up an IP(s) to achieve this.

so IP xxx.xxx.xxx.100 would be set aside --> xxx.xxx.xxx.1-255 (255 stored websites)

Could anyone direct me to software needed for this? Thanks in advanced!

BIND & Apache is what I would recommend. Someone will need to read up on BIND though, as it is a somewhat confusing topic -- no matter how experienced one is.

BIND & DNS by O'reilly -- 3rd or 4th Edition is a book worth having.

Hi,

Check out these.

For Linux:
1) http://www.isc.org/products/BIND/ - DNS
2) http://www.apache.org - Web Server.

If you like, you could outsource the installation to us?
