Can some one explain to me what's REALLY GOING ON. At first the appearance of windows and linux were not to bad. Later down the line the debuit of lindows took place (That is when I started to shiver ) and now WinLinux. I would like for some one to explain to me what is going on. To me it seems like the O.S. world is aging before my eyes are Microsoft and Linux eventually going to merge via a 3rd party O.S. Is the devil and the unknown fortress going to merge and if they do whats going to become of the O.S. world ?. Are we all doomed due to the advances of technology or are we all dumed due to the Robber barons of the O.S. world.

Not sure what you're talking about. Linux I believe initially did not have a GUI. Since Microsoft has the overwhelming majority of the market share in the OS department, its competitors must offer some incentive for users to switch to their OS. Many Linux OS packages such as redHat now have a rich GUI that rival Microsoft's GUI in many aspects. As far as them merging, I highly doubt this. There's a fundamental difference in the way Microsoft views software and the open source community views software.

I am trying to say in other words why are a lot of recent Linux distro's trying to emulate Windows?.
