Is it better to upgrade to an 64bit processor due to the technological advantages over an 32 bit processor or is it better just to stay with an 32bit processor due the the application compatability

It is better at this point to stay with the 32 bit processor. The reason being that I do not know of any software for the average consumer that takes advantage of the 64 bit technology as of yet. So you could buy it but wouldn't really be using it.

I wouldn't be surprised. Applications such as photoshop would definitely benefit from this. Although I haven't heard of these plans, it very well could be true.

I decided to upgrade to a 64-bit CPU (AMD Athlon 64 3000+) It's good with 32 and 64 bit applications and games. I don't have a 64-bit OS yet though...
Many 64-bit applications and games will be coming out soon.
